annual Swift shoot

since getting back from Canada I have found little inspiration for photography so today with no new birds around in the strong winds I had a go at some of the local Swifts----all Canon 1DIIN and 300 2.8 lens

Southern Ontario May 2008

my third trip to this warbler hot spot and we were not disappointed although there were no major falls the warblers at Pelee were amazing often coming within 1-2m of the camera; I had long wanted to try and photograph Blackburnian in spring and this bird seemed to sense my need! at one stage it virtually landed on the end of my lens and I was left watching it with the naked eye from less than 2 feet!

forgot the Parula

I was surprised to get so close to a couple of Parula's when my past experience has shown that they are usually in the tree tops

just a Yellow-rumped

hardly a fitting phrase for such a gorgeous bird

Chestnut-sided Warbler

one of the most co-operative birds

award winner the Mag

the award fro sheer combination of colour, pattern and design must go to male Magnolias

Palm Warbler

the tail pumper

Prothonotary Warbler

a male at Pelee --- just never came close enough for the images you need

Northern Waterthrush

just could not get down to get a better angle on this bird---it was singing from 40 feet up in a dead tree and then dropping down to feed under a trail boardwalk

Lesser Yellowlegs

closer than the Killingholme bird

Black-throated Blue

hard to get the colour right on these

Black-throated Green

a confiding little buddy
