Marsh Harrier day

the sunny forecast saw me in the local hide but for nearly 3 hours there was precious little activity then a young male Marsh Harrier arrived and gave a brief fly by; as I left for a wasted visit to Waters' Edge (nil birds) two harriers apparently performed for 30 minutes in front of the hide! luck though was there eventually as the male returned in the middle of the afternoon and hunted the reedbeds for about 30 minutes -- superb light and a cracking bird and one of my favourite species; with drake Smew, Goosander and 2 Bitterns it was a good day after all
