a few shots


much has been written about the Canon 1DIII since its launch and some of the criticism was no doubt justified but I remain convinced that it is a great camera -- Black-headed Gulls and Kestrel here with 300 2.8 and 2x converter; Redwing hand held from the garden porch with 500 f4 and 1.4; Blue Tit and Reed Bunt straight 300 2.8

Ross's Gull revisited




I was amazed to see that it was January 14th 2007 when I took these Ross's Gull shots up in a very wet and windy western Scotland -- I never thought I did the bird justice so I have revamped the shots a bit in the hope of a new bird in the next few weeks! still one of my favourite species and one I travel a long way to see

sometimes you just make a fortuitous decision and end up in the right place at the right time -- pleased I avoided the freezing hide! even when they are close if they are feeding getting an eye and a body between blowing reeds is one in about 500!
