a tale of two Shelduck families

while this one brood of 7 youngsters were already flying the one of nine were recent arrivals such is the protracted breeding season of the Shelduck around the Humber -at one stage a neighbouring pair suddenly flew in and attacked one of the juveniles catching the male unawares but his reaction was pretty rapid and the intruders quickly seen off    - counted 1150 today around Read's Island with 7 Ruddy Shelduck and 700 Avocets
