juvenile Black-necked Grebe

autumn is well under way -- this juvenile has clearly moved a fair way from its breeding site as there have been no birds at this locality all spring

juvenile Yellow-legged Gull

taken Saturday evening as the fog rolled in and out obscuring even the closest birds -- a good passage of YLG's of late but there seems to be fewer Meds though with several pea fields being harvested they could be more spread out -- sitting for hours in a field covered in slurry with its attendant aroma isn't everyone's cup of tea but it helps hone birding skills!

Barn Owl wedge

you can pay to photograph tame Barn Owls on special days here but why not just stand there in the evening and watch the real thing

late evening Common Terns

not on AV mode!

gull antics

a few shots from recent days spent in the slurry field -- not everyone's cup of tea but a source of endless fascination -- the 2cy Common Gull has a very pale mantle and scapulars --

Med Gulls and Yellow -legged

the early autumn passage of Mediterranean Gulls through my patch and the local fields is underway -- I have seen 10 different birds today in one field and 13+ over the last three days -- lots of birds to sort through with a few Yellow-legged Gulls amongst the Lesser Black-back and Herring hoards
