Iceland Gull

the first-winter still along the sea wall between Pywipe and Immingham feeding on fish discarded by sea anglers -- tricky lighting and some worrying inaccuracies from the 5D3 on what should have been an easy flying bird -- work to do before Feb -- this bird has been reported at least once as a Glaucous Gull and it is a heavy looking bird -- the more I look at Iceland Gulls the more variation there seems to be

Shorelarks

the weather forecast was seriously wrong yet again; sunny spells and some cloud actually equalled 100% black cloud for 90% of the day -- one very short-lived brighter spell when the larks were close was a bonus but that was about it -- all with Canon 5D3 and 500 f4 II with 2x III

















Hen Harriers

suffered the ultimate dilemma -- birder or photographer this afternoon; the brilliant light didn't look as if it would last long so took the scope to view the harriers; female came in in beautiful sun, male hung in the air just 100m out in the same light -- went back for the camera and needless to say the light went the harriers were nowhere near as close -- a day of what could have beens - lower shot taken at 12800 ISO
