Identification of juvenile Hobby and Red-footed Falcon

with some juvenile Red-footed Falcons turning up on the east coast this week it seems worth posting a few comparative pictures of juvenile Hobbies and today's Red-foot for comparison; the two species are not easy to identify at this age without decent views and there is certainly confusion over when Hobbies fledge and start to migrate -- this first batch are all from three juveniles taken on August 20th 2006; they fledged 7-10 days previously and stayed in the area of the nest until the end of the first week in September which is pretty typical but some broods are still close to the nest site in the last week of September --
