thanks to Julian Hough for the ID of these -- I jumped on the Long-billed camp after the first flock and didn't really consider caurinus Short-billed when I came across the other two on the shore by the cottage -- it had been a long day! and never go the chance to study any more all week -- top birds Long-billed

Birds below summer plumaged western caurinus Short-billed Dowitcher - it did not help that they were stubbornly silent but this in itself is apparently a good feature I had not considered
