two slightly dodgy geese

a Lesser White-fronted Goose look alike at Alkborough of late is likely a hybrid of some time or with some odd genes; superficially like a Lesser White-front but with a longer bill and restricted white on the forecrown it is still small enough to attract attention but its Greylag buddies are not the best companions - also around for a while is a smaller Canada Goose again probably the result of some hybrid inbreeding in the local Canada Goose population - these feral/naturalised geese are really a nightmare

I guess I should look more closely at these - had some flocks of Aleutian Geese fly by in 2016 but this year they all seemed to be resident Dusky Canadas -- I prefer waders!

Canada Geese can they be interesting?

photographing the Brents I noticed that two of the Canadas were a little smaller and shorter necked than the rest of the flock -- they both also showed a dark gular line bisecting the chin patch -- so are they within the variation shown by the local feral population or something slightly interesting?
