Grey Phalarope

an advanced juvenile / first-winter Grey Phalarope at Alkborough earlier in the week; I literally had 30 minutes before we set off for the Lakes and the light was non-existent but went for 2000 ISO that produced 1/250th second -- certainly have better Grey Phal images but a small highlight in a very very dull autumn

Grey Phalarope with 5D3

its pretty easy to get frame filling shots of phalaropes but I wanted to try and show this tiny bird in its very rough watery home and demonstrate its apparent vulnerability to the gale force winds of today --

not a day to be a juv Grey Phalarope really -- it was going up and down about 1m and I was struggling to stand up never mind hand hold the camera -- a monochrome bird on a monochrome day
