Waters' Edge and local birds

 in the gales of yesterday I took the shelter offered by Waters' Edge on a sunny day and tried my luck with the local birds that were available -- the Blackcap has been in our garden for the last week

 spent lunch break watching this male Great Spotted Woodpecker attacking these thin willow stems; it worked its way around them carefully but never broke a branch in spite of how thin they were; thanks to the Twitter sphere I am told it was seeking out a weevil called the Willow borer

I would guess that 90% of people who have a big telephoto lens have a converter of some description on the lens 95% of the time; the best converters like the Canon 1.4x are truly excellent but lenses must in theory perform at their best when used alone so here are a few I tried with the 400 DO2 and no converter; 5D4
