a few Humber Avocets

parts of the 2000 strong flock at Read's island

probably the last few WWBT and its enemies today

the tern adopted the same reaction to Sparrowhawks, Marsh Harrier juv, adult Hobby and a juv Peregrine namely get up high and hope they don't see you -- compared directly to a Sand Martin you see just how small they are

White-winged Black Tern

I go by the traditional naming protocols -- superb juv on the local pits but mostly just too distant for decent images -- these are some of the best  - challenging light and camera autofocus as well in the bright bits and with what is a really small bird  -- second earliest juv I have seen just beaten by one at Messingham on July 25th 2004
