Sanderlings

 a good number on the beach between Mablethorpe and Theddlethorpe -- 

waders on the move

a local flock of 17 juvenile Sanderling at the weekend was truly exceptional but there seems to be a high percentage of juveniles in most wader flocks thus far this autumn - a selection from the last few days

 first encounter this autumn with lovely juvenile Sanderlings on the lincs coast but in some truly dire light

and Sanderlings with a difference

 trying to think a bit more about images and the light and weather on the 1st were conducive to trying a few things albeit getting a bit damp in the process -- one bird was defending a fast flowing drainage creek on the outer beach and flying madly at any other birds that tried to feed in its pot - this provided plenty of flight opportunities as it often flew directly at me when chasing birds between us -- all images as usual Canon 5D4 with Canon 400 DO2 and 1.4x converter
