Sedge Warbler

have been trying to find a suitable Grasshopper Warbler but the wind and location of birds thus far has eluded me -- most migrants are still pretty thin on the ground up here and I have still not had a Cuckoo or Turtle Dove a sign of the times -- in the late 70's up to 7 male Cuckoos were around the pits and spring movements often saw 30+ Turtle Doves in a day with a peak count of 101 moving west one memorable May morning --

a vagrant on the local patch no doubt ship or pocket assisted but at least the bee enjoyed it

early Hobbies

Prior to this year my earliest Hobby up here in North lincs was on April 24th 2000 thus it was somewhat of a surprise to see not one but three together this morning catching flying insects over the forest; at one stage I was almost certain there were four but three were in the bins at one time along with a Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and 3 Common Buzzards -- a sight unimaginable 20 years ago in Lincolnshire

incredibly after all this month's weather the problem today was heat haze
