Stonechats moving

Literally and figuratively the spring passage of Stonechats is well underway but on a day with some nice warm sunny spells yesterday birds were flycatching on the winter gnats that emerged

Stonechats

Lots of Stonechats about in the last two weeks with 10+ at Barton and 22+ at Alkborough but none have been very obliging so nice to catch up with this pair today on one of my survey sites, where there were seven in total, and in nice light and some nice habitat not the usual fencing and posts

male Stonechat on bullrush

the early passage of Stonechats through the local area seems to have slowed this week but there were up to seven a day in the previous week and many different individuals judging from the flock composition and locations that suggests maybe 25-30 birds were recorded
