with Cyprus so dry nowadays its difficult to find any wetland to look for herons -- Phassouri is virtually pointless with just a small pool against the reeds and the Aspro pools are a thing of memory - we saw just one Night Heron, one Purple, one Little Bittern a few Squaccos and the usual Cattle Egrets plus about 4 Glossy Ibis -- the Purple Heron was actually hunting large insects in the dead grass
