a morning down the Ancholme Valley

The Goosanders produced too much contrast in the black water and you just cannot get low down to get a decent perspective - the Great White was quickly disturbed by the hordes of cyclists, joggers, walkers etc 

The juvenile Whooper with the Mutes appeared a bit lop sided

Goosander and Scaup

though there were less Tufted Ducks after the ice disappeared today the flock held a drake Goosander and three Scaup had joined the resident male, a first-winter drake and two ducks

offshore ducks

there were flocks of 100's of Common Mergansers (Goosanders) around Quadra and Campbell River and Harlequins were everywhere on the coastlines-- White-winged Scoters were quite scarce and always the most distant of the three scoters -- would a male be identifiable on a seawatch?
