a very very long overdue first for Lincolnshire and a clearly Western bird in spite of the bird media messages; the song was identical to Western on the Collins Guide and the calls, repeated for almost 5 minutes at one point were also perfect for Western; really active bird usually in dense bushes and foliage and so quick that it was difficult to get onto so record shots but nice bird to get to grips with -- thanks Kev -- got some recordings of call and song on the iphone but not had time to do anything with them yet

Western Bonelli's Warbler
a convivial trip to Bempton for this engaging little phyllosc and a great reminder of just how distinctive the call is -- never easy t see never mind photograph after a torrential shower it showed much better but light conditions were challenging! super bird though and a species still missing from the Lincolnshire list
and as to the person who seemed to think that only idiots carry cameras after he left the bird was showing down to 30 feet from 35 people without the slightest concern as anyone with any knowledge of phylloscs would appreciate
