Stilt Sandpiper a bit closer

yesterday was hot and by the time I got in the hide early afternoon it was 29C outside and later in the afternoon 31C so there was plenty of heat haze and atmospheric distortion added to the fact that even at its closest this bird was never going to be anything other than small in the camera but more detailed than the shots further away but in much better light below -- Stilt Sandpiper Alkborough the 4th for Lincs of which I have seen exactly 50% and most of us don't really count the two at Wisbech sewage farm anyway as it was 90% Norfolk -- all adults - the only juvs I have seen were on a rather smelly and hot Prairie pothole in Alberta August 2007

Stilt Sandpiper at Alkborough Flats

another stunning Nearctic wader for the Alkborough Flats list - never close enough for decent images so heavy cropping and a bit of dodgy iphone + scope video

juvenile Peregrines

local birds found under a pylon nest in June - all 4 eventually fledged successfully

Marsh Harriers - juvs appearing

must be at least two weeks since I posted some harrier images maybe even longer! doing the rounds of my local nests and some very tardy youngsters still not making the upward leap but some getting quite mobile now
