another rare wader Baird's sandpiper at East Halton

Found by Steve Routledge late on the 14th I joined him and John early on the 15th and it flew back into its favoured pool - light was very difficult, from the side and bright sun and after about 40 minutes it had a preen, called and flew off - amazingly have seen Sharp-tailed, White-rumped, Pectoral, Baird's, Buff-breasted and Semi-palmated Sandpipers plus Lesser Yellowlegs this autumn all in Lincolnshire except the Sharp-tailed!

Baird's Sandpiper at Alkborough Flats

Omitted to post these images from last week; the first Baird's Sandpiper for the Flats and a stunner in full summer plumage present for just one day on the 21st it came to light via Birdguides after I posted the images that the same bird had been seen near Angers in central France from the 18th - 20th June so the question was it going north or south at this date in June was answered - it was certainly going north - could it now be in Svalbard or Greenland?

The first and last two images were taken in the morning in very bright sun with the RF100-400 lens as that was all I had with me at the time and the remainder were taken with the 400DO2 and 2x converter at 21:15 in better light -- water crowfoot has carpeted the areas of open mud and shallow water at Alkborough this spring

Baird's Sandpiper

just the one juvenile but a typically confiding bird on the mudflats at Oyster Bay a spot I had been several times and seen no waders but this year was a good spot with several species -- Most of the images of birds from the trip are with the Canon 5D4 and the Canon 400 DO mark 2 lens with the 1.4x mark 3 converter apart from a few without the converter --  high ISO's were used very frequently due to the lack of good light and thick cloud
