A quick visit yesterday and dull but fine weather around Esthwaite and White Moss walks - no Wood Warblers back but plenty of beautiful Pied Flycatchers singing with a few Redstarts and nice to see two pairs of Marsh Tits without trying

Alkborough Marsh Tit a new species
to put yesterday's Marsh Tit in perspective I have only ever seen Marsh Tit in North Lincs once and that was in 1971! In Lincolnshire they are confined to woodlands south and west of Lincoln so this was a real surprise -- we do of course have quite a few Willow Tits and I found 30 territories in 2012 though they are going down slowly
