just working up a few Canadian images when a male Little Bittern gets turned up in Lincs -- at 28 miles from home it would have been a shame not to have gone --my 4th in Lincs which is quite surprising as I have only seen 5 Purple Herons and 3 Night Herons in Lincs -- for a small bird this was too far away for good images but great scope views

Little Bittern
tricky scenario with a small gap through the reeds and sallow leaves when they blew away from the bird; sunlit bird and dark reeds and standing still in the gale an additional problem -- when it eventually walked down to the reed base it was partly covered by reeds then it flew forwards and was never seen again in the 3 and a half hours we waited; I seem to think the last juvenile Little Bittern I saw was in the Neusiedl reedbeds in July 1978!
