after the usual week of debate we left the delights of bird-free Lincs and headed for the windy wastes of Boyton marshes; it was pretty obvious from the outset that today was not going to be a day for good photos and the bird never showed any inclination to come anywhere near close to the footpaths in addition to which the blustery wind and afternoon heat haze also confounded later attempts at image making --

Long-billed Dowitcher
not seen many of these in the Uk with the last juvenile being that at King's Lynn in October 1991 which I photographed after seeing the Two-barred Crossbill at Sandringham -- heady days
