another excellent goose winter continues to produce new records with this flock of 6 Greenland White-fronts at Alkborough today being the largest ever local flock -- comparison with a single Eurasian White-front and Greylags in some of the pics --

Desert Wheatear

after weeks of procrastination we went for the Bempton Desert Wheatear on a very blustery and cold day -- it was mobile and elusive spending much of the day feeding in winter wheat fields inland of the cliffs and making a few erratic appearances on the path -- best of the day's efforts in less than optimal conditions all taken late afternoon after 6 hours of waiting
