a few more seabirds from Bempton

Fulmar petrels

Since getting back from Canada have not used the 5D3 for other than landscapes so took it to Bempton for a few hours with the 300 2.8 II to try out the AF on flying seabirds against a contrasty backdrop - -mixed results but still need to play with it but I love the IQ of the camera

Great White Egret Alkborough

it is always sods law that the day you don't go someone else finds the good bird - anyway thanks Wayne -- second record for the site and the species still seems scarce up here in spite of its increasing status in the UK -- never close and jumpy the best of the records were obtained through hiding in a wood

female Cuckoo

notable only in the fact that it is the first female I have seen for about 5 years!

Four-spotted Chaser

stil not a lot of dragons round here in spite of some better weather

Swifts

camera technology has certainly come a long way since I first started trying to do Swifts in flight -- you still get a lot of rubbish but off shots are way beyond what we could have expected with non-digital gear
all Canon 1D4, Canon 300 2.8 II and Canon 1.4 III
