and a few more white grouse -- Ptarmigan
the forecasters said full sun all day - well when do they ever get it right?
Ptarmigan
the first day I walked up to try and find these I fell through the ice and slipped off another ice sheet and decided discretion was in order; two days later with another foot of snow it was safer walking but still took me 3 hours to find them and then another 2 hours to get up and down a steep valley twice -- the sun failed to appear but that's mountains for you; all images with Canon 5D3 and Canon 300 2.8 plus 1.4 converter

it would have ben nice to have had a bit more time here as the light was superb and some really good birds and mammals; shame I had to get back

a dull morning with frequent light snow so no real light on the birds in the forest
