Alkborough Flats

a sometimes challenging day weather wise but all in all a good day with male Hen Harrier, too far off, the usual gang of Marsh Harriers, Peregrine chasing the 9000+ Lapwings, gangs of Fieldfares and the usual wildfowl and wader accompaniment and a beautiful male Kestrel that almost gave me my shot of the week but I missed it!

Short-eared Owl slightly less wet

it really was dull and dismal this afternoon -- maybe another day

hedge backwards dragged

or words to that effect -- 12 hours of rain is no good for owls

must be like dropping into a very tasty sweet shop

the adult male Marsh Harrier is trailing a leg which is not a good sign

the glory days of Worlaby are long gone and will probably never be repeated in terms of approachable Short-eared Owls in good light -- a few records of late
