Little Egret

Marsh Harriers fledging

most of my pairs are 10 days to 2 weeks late this year but some young now wandering a good way from their nests --

Barn Owl

a lot of people spend a lot of time photographing Barn owls but to me they are not particularly attractive; this one happened to fly past me while I was watching the harriers -- as far as I know none have been ringed in the area where this bird was breeding so it would have been good to have got a better part of the ring number --

Common Terns

just too much contrast for what I was trying -- I do not like July for bird photography, too many hot and hazy hours and birds starting to look scruffy

Golden-ringed Dragonfly

the real aim of the expedition was good views of Golden-ringed Dragons -- we saw one at Wykeham the previous week but it failed to pose for its portrait so today's encounter was very nice

Like all perched dragons they are easy to see when you know where they are!

Dark Green Fritillary

Keeled Skimmer

I prefer to get dragons in flight but these were very tricky never quite staying still long enough and with a cluttered background -- Canon 5D3 and Canon 300 2.8 II --
