an adult Shag turned up on the local Sailing pit in the week and was still there today -- it was in exactly the same place when I saw it as three birds on February 6th 1996; a really rare bird on my patch as follows:
November 26th 1987
2 juvs trying to roost on the Humber bridge October 22nd 1991 with one there November 9th
3 September 6th 1992
April 20th 1994
3 February 6th 1996
a juv August 23rd 2008

white wingers Kirkby
the 2cy Glaucous and a new 2cy Iceland Gull at Kirkby Pits yesterday - never an easy place to photograph gulls and certainly not assisted by the antics of tip operators letting of fiz bangers to disturb the gulls -- WHY -- humans create edible waste that the gulls clean up yet these people hate gulls doing what is simply natural and environmentally friendly --

Bluethroat in Lincs
paid homage to the south Lincs Bluethroat and got a wet leg and very muddy bum in the bargain --
Logic dictates that it is a first-winter male but According to Robins and Chats a first-winter male should have tawny or rufous buff fringes to greater coverts and tertials and I cannot seem to equate those features to this bird --- all are with the Canon 5D3, Canon 400 DO II and eitehr 1.4 or 2x mark 3 converters
