Barn Swallows

the weather today around here was dire -- persistent drizzle becoming rain at times and a cold northerly wind meant very few insects were on the wing; Barn Swallows concentrated around the roadbeds with birds picking insects off the reed stems in flight, something I have never seen before --

Iberian Chiffchaff -- Lincolnshire first

late to the party and these were all I managed before the rain arrived last night -- pleased to find that my transcription of the call as somewhat Siskin like conferred with the description in the Collin's Guide -- heard them singing in Spain years ago but never heard the call as far as I know and it was pretty distinctive -- only two short bursts of song in 3 hours though --

female Montagu's Harrier a bit better

a bit closer in the fly past today but the wind was a significant factor!

Garden Warbler

Not always the easiest of birds to photograph and very much a rare bird on my local path -- this one was in the forest where they are fairly common

falcon day

appalling light as usual -- either dull as dishwater or bright with wobbly haze -- but just watching Hobbies feeding is the ultimate in birding

coastal Cuckoo

still Cuckoos on the coastal strip but none around the clay pits as yet

female Montagu's Harrier records

Pleased to see the Humber female back again -- surely she must attract a male this year! Record shots at Alkborough this morning
