finding oddments
I had gone down the Lincs coast to see if any seabirds were moving back and then to look for vagrant waders; the sea was decidedly quiet but a Manx Shearwater was zooming back and forth over the tide edge; it looked like a good photo opportunity but before I could get within 200m of it a gang of Great Black backed Gulls found it and within minutes they had it down on the beach and I had to watch from a distance as they threw it about for 20 minutes before it eventually died in the water -- looking through the Ringed Plovers and Dunlin I heard a call that I did not recognise, a low, sharp clipped cherkk -- looking at the closest birds in front of me was this one -- nit the Ringed Plover
