Honey-buzzard
after 2 hours fruitless searching for the Long-billed Dowitcher on Saturday morning it suddenly walked out from under the near side of a reedbed and looked up -- clearly this meant a raptor so a quick glance to the side and there was a fine dark juvenile Honey-buzzard just drifting past; if I had seen it coming the shot would have been better but as it was a panic set in and I was pleased to get something -- another late raptor for the October list -- after passing our view point it quickly moved off south soaring over Alkborough village before disappearing down the Trent Valley
