Barton surge damage

on the face of it Barton seems to have got off lightly but all the clay pits are full of brackish, silt laden Humber water so what effect this will have upon the vegetation and birds only time will tell; Water Rails were concentrated around the edges of the pits today but the wildfowl seemed little affected so far - the wood shown across the Humber path was about 22m long, an old pier support lifted onto the top of the Humber bank by the strength of the tide; the damage to the flood defences is extensive
