all these shots were of two juveniles taken locally on September 23rd 2008 -- they were assumed to be Scandinavian birds as they arrived with the big east coast arrival of Honey-buzzards and Ospreys in mid September and remained in the same spot feeding mainly on Migrant Hawkers, until October 1st -- such a stay is most unusual for British birds around my patch --
note the ore worn plumage compared to the recently fledged birds in the first post -- they both regularly perched on the overhead wires when not hunting dragons and insects on the wing --
distinct changes in colour tones occur in bright light with underwings appearing very dark in dull light
