some Quadra gulls

Mew Gulls were probably the commonest species but juveniles were thin on the ground -- when you see one they are really distinctive --

I came across these 4 adult Thayer's Gulls on the west side of the island but in a bad place for parking, it was raining again and there was a need for urgent coffee plus they were below me on a low cliff so I only took a few pics before having to leave but fortunately the species proved more common on the other side of the straight




and a Glaucous-winged Gull playing with an inanimate object
