Red-necked Grebe

as the cold snap disappears this Red-necked Grebe that popped up in the fog last Thursday appears to be the only cold induced arrival on the local pits; Pochard numbers rose to a massive 27 simply not conceivable in the mid 1980's when up to 2000 used to winter -- Goldeneye are also hovering around the 30 mark but again only 10 years ago there were up to 650 on the Humber in winter -- the times they have a changed
