most of the day spent on the Lincs coast hoping to find some feeding terns to photograph---the terns were about 200m out, the scoters lost in a minute swell, waders almost non-existent and what were there were off at 100m range and it was sticky and humid and bad light and and and and ------surfing Common Seal, Sandwich and Common (the only two on close passage) and Sanderling on escape flight!
lest it be thought that getting pictures of Nightjars is easy these two shots were taken from about 3m away with a 24mm lens and a 85mm lens respectively---there are an aweful lot of areas like this in the forest where I survey
on a dull and wet afternoon on 31st I ended up trying to get some photos of Black-tails--for once the white background water was an advantage but the poor light was not
