Sunday evening was pretty terrible with very strong winds and rain so I figured that the Short-eareds would not have been able to hunt much and as a reaction they might be on the wing earlier today---needless to say the clouds rolled in from the west after lunch but birds were on the wing by 14:00hrs then for a magical 15 minutes the sun broke through a narrow gap in the clouds like a lead breaking into solid pack ice and on a couple of occasions an owl came close---must improve my hand holding technique
