this adult Hobby was feeding over a weedy field covered in flowers; I could not see what it was taking but distant photos show that in all instances where I have managed to identify the prey it was Small Tortoiseshell butterflies; one can be seen in the shot where the bird appears to have just missed its target over the field; images were small but I love this species!
I had to resort to manual focus (as the camera consistently picked up the background) and manual exposure just like the old days!
