Northern Wheatears

up to 20 Wheatears were feeding on the salicornia on the beach with a high proportion of adult males -all birds were incredibly wild flying when approached to 60m

I can sympathise with your nervous wheatear experience, around 20m was about the closest for me at the weekend. Have you noticed that they often let your approach closer with the light behind them, or is it just my luck? I have another theory that making eye contact with them makes them nervous as well. Keep up the good work! Br, Mike
