I was lucky enough to be at UEA during the 1973 and 1974 Rough-leg invasions into East Anglia and the species quickly became one of my favourite birds -- it did seem like we saw Rough-legs every time we went out for two winters on the trot -- Walberswick was my favourite location and famously we counted 10 Rough-legs hovering over the surrounding hills and marshes at one time on November 10th 1974 a rather special day -- but having seen well over 100 in the UK and a fair few in Scandinavia I have never come across one quite as tame as this juv in Yorkshire -- shame about the could but beggars and all that
