the rise of the Gadwall

when I found my first pair of Gadwall in Goxhill in May 1970 it was a major event, the species was rare and seldom recorded so who could have foreseen the amazing change in status over the last 46 years where we now have winter counts of up to 200 and about 30 pairs attempt to breed.
