after two brief sightings of Bittern in 7 hours a typical shot of a bird heading to roost over the reeds -- then just as action erupted around the pit this bird came straight at the hide before veering off into the setting sun; it was late and presumably heading to its roost site; a reward for a long vigil but not as good as the harrier!
