Northern Harriers

somewhat disappointed to fail to get any decent Northern Harrier shots agin this trip due to the rain and birds just keeping their distance -- the one close encounter was a nice juv that flew around Julia while I was photographing a Greater Yellowlegs -- her frantic flapping imitation of a harrier finally got my attention but the harrier had moved off!
the male here is a 2cy bird with retained juvenile outer primaries and some secondaries -- the female may be an adult or a 2cy as it also has old outer primaries and some old secondaries and outer tail feathers but ageing at this distance of females is not easy
