Grey Heron confrontations
a juvenile and adult Grey Heron fishing in the pit -- the juvenile catches a large eel but although it seems to have subdued the eel the heron does not seem to know how to consume it -- then without warning the adult flies in feet first and chases off the juvenile which drops the eel - after a bit of a stand off the juvenile goes to a wooden post and starts to wipe its bill across the post presumably to remove the slime from the eel; the adult then calmly walks up to the eel and after a quick wash swallows it in two gulps -- the juvenile looks on then walks away head held high
