clearly something wrong with me at the moment - got up yesterday and decided to drive to Anglesey for the Elegant Tern - Cemlyn is a great place though and the cacophony from the 1000's of terns in the colony and the location are superb; over the years have seen Bridled and Sooty Terns at Cemlyn and my only UK Forster's Tern along the coast at Point of Ayr; this bird was a real chameleon with regard to bill colour which in the intense overhead sun looked rather bright yellow but had a more orange tone to the base in duller flat light but never the red of birds I have seen in California; it was going out to sea and catching a fish then attempting to present it to Sandwich Terns so you assume it is a male;
The light made photography difficult but the R6 certainly picked it up with ease over the island and the water - a bit distant on the ground fro my 400 with 1.4x but always nice to watch terns in July
