day 5

still raining at Canmore so time to don the waterproofs and head up to Moraine Lake, many, many less people in rubbish weather - the water level was also amazingly low at this stage -- managed to hear and see an avalanche and rock fall while Julia was in the gift shop, not well appreciated! five Harlequins were on the lake with a Common Loon and an American Dipper plus odd Spotted Sandpipers while the trees eventually revealed a singing Ruby-crowned Kinglet, such a different song to Goldcrest and to Golden-crowned Kinglet that does sound like a Firecrest, a couple of American Redstarts and a Townsend's Warbler, Wilson's warbler and Audubon's Warbler but the singing Varied Thrush remained hidden -- oddly taking shots of the Harlequins in the turquoise waters of the lake made them look to be in a wildfowl collection!
