the connection between these images; the first is a Little Grebe chick, the first of the spring on Waters' Edge; it made the mistake of following its parent out from the reed edge where it was immediately attacked and killed by the adult Coot; the Little Grebe parent seemed to be rather indifferent and just got on with feeding the remaining chicks -- not nice birds Coots
