a truly disappointing day on the coast with the best bird a Redstart -- this potential Black Brant was with 300 DBBrents and 2 Pale-bellied birds -- the collar seems + or _ OK not meeting at the rear but quite deep at the front, solid dark mantle ; coverts and belly reaching well back between legs but at times in the photos it appears paler than it seemed in the field although the light was dull -- it was quite a small bird so probably a female -- could not get any closer due to the RAF and the flighty geese!
