raptors easy
having looked at a multitude of photos of Nearctic raptors and wondered how people got such amazing shots of birds which are in the this part of the world so elusive and difficult to photograph my experience with this juvenile Cooper's Hawk on the outskirts of Victoria (Vancouver Island) sort of explained things a bit---from a very public car park I saw a raptor swoop out over the shore and land again in low scrub over some rocks on the shore--a careful approach with the 300 mm lens and 1.4 converter procured some decent shots; but the bird seemed oblivious to me so I approached further, took off the 1.4 and when it was too big to fit in the frame had to turn the camera on its side! it does seem to be easy over there
